About Us
 
Baai-Bor Women in Australia Inc is a Jieng-Bor women's association founded in September 2008 in Victoria, for all the Jieng-Bor women to come together, inspires, share knowledge and experiences as people living within a deverse society of Australia. It is a non profit organisation run entirely by dedicated board of volunteers, with no political affiliations. It is an incorporated association, officially endorsed by the Consumer Affairs Victoria under the Association Incorporation Act 1981 - section 7. Its aim is to empower the Jieng-Bor women in all level of their lives in Victoria, Australia as well as encourage them to come together for the development of women and young people who are less fortunate in Southern Sudan.  
 
Its name Baai-Bor mean Bor-Region. Its logo is a symbol of change and togetherness - holding up together for the better. The 22 stars around the top of the logo signify the 22 years of the Second Sudanese civil war in the region, between the indigenous Southerners with the dominant Arab government in the North. This civil war initially broke out in Bor region on 16th May 1983, and continuous into the other part of southern Sudan. It was one of the longest lasting war, and the most deadly civil conflict in the world. Approximately two millions civilians were killed in the South, and more than four million displaced. 
 
In summary, our vision is to encourage development and self-reliance of the Bor's women and children in Southern Sudan. Our mission is to give them hopes and help them create a lasting solution through educations and community development projects. Our work in Australia is to support women accesses local services available. We would like others to know that it's simple things in life that give us the greatest treasurers. We believe giving back to the world is more than just a blessing. It is not when you have much when you are to share with others, it is when you have nothing and create a thing to share with the world.
